52 grand?

Car people are nuts

Low miles, completely sorted and reliability mods made, popular color and options.

Hmmm. Still doesn’t equate to over 50k to me. That’s a lot of money for an old M3.

Crack pipe buyers

Insane!

Yes, we are.

But bear with me.. . Looking at the miles, you could argue that you’re basically buying a car with 2 years of light use. Assume an original sale price of $55k. Convert those to 2019 dollars and that’s around $77k. Throw in the cost of the (very nice) modifications, and maybe it’s a good price after all?

Will be interesting to see if it will go up any more.

It’s “I wanted that car 10 years ago and didn’t have the money” buyers. We’ve seen it with muscle  cars, now we’re going to see it with imports.

“Fitted with OEM CSL components” except it is missing the whole interior and the carbon intake, which is what made the CSL great. Totally crackpipe for that money.

If it was a full converted CSL clone, I could see $50k+. But this is just a low mile modded vehicle. I actually think the mods hurt in this case, but hey someone out there has money.

Nah...it’s a cp

But damn near anything with an m badge goes for silly money so clearly people are willing to pay that much

Dont make it not crazy tho

Yeah, it is.

So, at what point will my 125k mile, rock-chipped, worn interior ‘08 E90 M3 stop depreciating? =) I’m not going to stop driving it, that’s for sure!

That’s definitely the best color for this car, and I think it’s been tastefully modded.

Despite these things, $52k is a total CP price.

Keep it running for long enough it’ll probably get worth more eventually

Im not sure if that will ever weigh up against the cost of running it that long tho lol

Even has a recent oil change, literally ready to get in and drive. What are the odds someone is actually paying over $50k to do that instead of garage it and wait to flip it again?

It must be the low miles. There are a bunch that recently sold on BAT for 30k ish with around 50k miles.

After buying a 2003 Z06 5 years ago that had similarly low miles, I'll stick to the cars that were at least driven occasionally

I think it’s the color and the miles. There was another LSB that went for just over 50k.

Z1? 30 years old already. Is the M1 not modern? It’s as old as me, so I guess not...

Where do you draw the line on a car being “modern”? The E46 platform is over 20 years old now .

It really is a damn shame. For years and years, BMW had about 6 product lines each decade , and they were all desirable. Now, they have this mess, and they sell just like one car I’d care to own (M2 Competition).

Does that line move along with time?

Most states peg “ classic” at 15 years and “ antique” at 25. Might have to move those goalposts, as cars are lasting longer and longer these days.

Get used to seeing this for the clean manual coupes .

I like to think the rare sunroof delete and the miles are the reason in this case, but I am afraid these are about to disappear .

I keep coming back to this price and find it unnerving. I’m in the market for a sports car and basically am down to choosing between the E46, E92, or 997.1 as a manual coupe.

I’m heavily leaning toward the 997, because I think its the coolest of these three, but the idea of never being able to afford an E46 again scares me.

Kinja'd!!! davesaddiction @ opposite-lock.com > superdave847

Kinja'd!!!0

You’ll always be able to afford a high-mileage, well-kept example with some cosmetic imperfections. But yeah, if you’re looking for a low-mile, pristine, OEM or OEM+, prices are only going up.

Have you driven all three?

Miles + condition + color + great modifications + 2+ people who really want it.

What’s interesting to me is that this is not a collector car, because it’s not all original. Whoever buys this is going to drive it!

Makes me wonder if the M2 is a future classic.  It’s the only BMW I’ve really considered outside the E9X M3.

Kinja'd!!! davesaddiction @ opposite-lock.com > BeaterGT
07/18/2019 at 11:41

Kinja'd!!!0

The M2 is really good, but it’s not really that different than the current (or future) M3/4, except in terms of size.

The E9x M3 is the last naturally aspirated M3, and the last with a hydraulic rack.

If you’re looking for a future classic, pick up a nice one now!
